The Van Zant Resource Group (VRG) has been chosen by Owens-Corning
to strategically revise and update its plant policies and procedures for its Amarillo,
Texas,
facility.
The
Leadership Team of Owens-Corning, Amarillo, committed to its employees earlier in the year
to streamline and update its People Policies. Given the complexity of their business and
the competitive issues the company faces in its Composites Division, the Plant researched
firms that have demonstrated experience in providing strategic human resources solutions.
After reviewing numerous proposals, VRG, a management consulting firm specializing human
resources solutions, candidate sourcing, and contract staffing stood out as the clear
choice. "Our
business environment has necessitated change in many areas of our operations, not the
least of which is our culture and approach to people management," said Mark Holman,
HR manager, Owens-Corning. "We are very committed to excellent employee relations.
About two months ago we began the important project to develop a set of policies that: 1)improved
our communications on the standards we expect from employees, 2) could be more
consistently managed across work groups, shifts and departments and 3) did not create
wholesale changes to current policies without a sound business reason. VRG, and
specifically, Kathy Van Zant, has a proven track record for developing new ideas and
approaches in the HR arena that we want to implement. "We
